|OCTOBER 22TH, 2017 PJ CHURCH OF CHRIST BULLETIN
We thank brother Allan Hoo for his wonderful sermon on “How Good is Good Enough?” last Lord’s Day. This morning brother Antonio Lopez will bring forth a sermon on “Failure”. A thought to consider: “If we make it to heaven, will it be because we are Successful?” Do bring your loved ones/ friends to worship with us every Sunday.
SUNDAY ADULT BIBLE CLASS:
This morning brother Antonio Lopez will teach the adult class with a lesson on “Fearless” -- this is a study on fear, is it good or bad? The book of Ecclesiastes 12:13 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His Commandments, for this is man’s all”. I John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” It is the same unchanging God that inspired both scriptures. We will be exploring how these scriptures teach us to live the abundant life. Please bring your children punctually for the Sunday Children/Youth Class to be taught the Bible every week.
Please pray for brethren who are travelling: Ong Chong Fatt (USA): Krishnan & Maya (Perth); Julia Cheah (Penang). Also pray for sister Yee Pin (hospitalized for chest infection and abdominal blockage); Sophie Ng (ear surgery); Lucas Wong (small pox); Marcus Oh (hospitalized for inflamed tongue); Eunice Tan - expecting her first child; Bernedette Savitha(Tony George’s niece) – ovarian cancer; Lee See Mooi (Lay Ling’s mother) – recuperating from knee replacement surgery at home; Norm Jensen – recuperating from his recent back surgery in Bakersfield, California; sister Nalini – heart problems; Chan Lay Har (Bedok Singapore) – recuperating from major stroke; Yee Pin – Parkinson’s Disease; Wong See Keok, Tan Swee Yoke, Choy Foong’s mother, Bawani’s father, Tan Yoke Ying and sister Thoo – health concerns. MESSAGE FROM BROTHER ONG CHONG FATT:
October 16th, 2017: Dearest Brethren, It is Monday again that I am about to attend the "Counseling Skills" class at 1.00 pm. Worshipped at the Highland Church yesterday as I brought John Lim from Pasir Panjang who is a freshman (Bible, Family Ministry and English major) at Harding University to introduce him to the Chinese Ministry there. It was fun having him around. John is groomed to be the next preacher of the PP congregation after he graduates. It is beautiful Fall weather in Memphis and it is getting cooler. The trees are changing colors and will gradually lose their leaves. I think this is the most beautiful time of the year with the falling leaves and cool weather. By next month it will be dark by 4-5 pm (something I had experienced some 28 years ago in Memphis). I noticed that my hair has grown some blacker than I first came. Always wondered why that is the case when I am overseas (that always happens). My hair is growing longer. Considered going to the barber but when I found out how much that cost (services are always expensive in US and Canada). I put that off. Will worship this Sunday at Don Green's congregation out in the suburbs in Memphis. Being away gives me time to learn new things and observe how the different COC function and operate. Some are still very traditional while others have gone very modern and contemporary. Just weighed the books I purchased/given while here and it is 17 kilos. Need to tread very carefully and NOT buy any more as I can check in only 2 23 kilos bags maximum. US did away with the MBags which was a cheap way to send books home. Guess I will have to leave some things behind. I prepare simple meals like Instant noodles with eggs, bread with peanut butter, and canned food. Eating outside can be pretty expensive and time consuming. Groceries are pretty inexpensive. Purchased some frozen pizzas to be cooked in the oven. Have not tried that yet. Well got to sign off. God has been good. Missed you folks in the PJ church. By the way do you remember a Botswana girl named Denise Malepa who worshipped with us in PJ some 5-6 years ago? Just found out from a HST student from Botswana that she died from a car accident after she returned back home. How tragic! God Bless! OCF
