|OCTOBER 29TH, 2017 PJ CHURCH OF CHRIST BULLETIN
We thank brother Antonio Lopez for his inspiring sermon on “Failure” last Lord’s Day. This morning brother Gary Lye will preach a sermon on “The Grateful Leper”. Do bring your loved ones/ friends to worship with us every Sunday.
SUNDAY ADULT BIBLE CLASS:
Brother Wong Wee Loke is back to teach the adult class with a lesson on “Leisure” in the “Strengthening Your Grip” series--. Food for Thought: …when you stop some day and look back on the way you spent your time – your use of leisure will be far more important than those hours you spent with your nose to the grindstone. Don’t wait until it’s too late to enjoy life. Live it up now. Throw yourself into it with abandonment. Get up out of the rut of work long enough to see that there is more to life than a job and a pay check. You’ll never be the same!” Please bring your children punctually for the Sunday Children/Youth Class to be taught the Bible every week.
Our heart-felt sympathies to Brenda, Stephane, Steven, Olivia and Daniel for the loss of their mother/mother-in-law/ grandmother, sister Yee Pin. She was 81 years old when she passed away on 23rd October 2017. We will miss our sister for her smile and encouragement but we rejoice that she has fought the good fight, finished the race and has now gone home to be with her Lord whom she has served and loved. Do pray for the family at this time of bereavement.
Please pray for brethren who are travelling: Ong Chong Fatt (USA): Krishnan & Maya (Perth). Also pray for Sophie Ng; Lucas Wong & Marcus Oh – recuperation; Eunice Tan - expecting her first child; Bernedette Savitha(Tony George’s niece) – ovarian cancer; Norm Jensen – recuperating and full recovery from back surgery in Bakersfield, California; sister Nalini – heart problems; Chan Lay Har (Bedok Singapore) – recuperating from major stroke; Wong See Keok, Tan Swee Yoke, Choy Foong’s mother, Bawani’s father, Tan Yoke Ying and sister Thoo – health concerns. Please inform the church staff if you are away/ travelling, or have prayer concerns, so that the PJ church may include you in our weekly prayer list.
OUR HONOURED GUESTS:
We extend our warmest welcome to Agnes Lopez (Klang); Anthony Santiago (US); Xavier Gomez and our regular visitors who worshipped with us last Lord’s Day.
MESSAGE FROM BROTHER ONG CHONG FATT:
October 23rd, 2017: Dearest Brethren, Just heard with deep sadness about the passing of our dearly beloved sister Yee Ping. She was always a very encouraging sister in Christ and always with a smile whenever she comes to church. I still remember vividly when she was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease; she told me that she was not afraid because she had Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! I have just attended HST chapel service and Counseling Skills Class this afternoon and asked for Brenda/Stephanie’s Family to be prayed for. God be with you Brenda and family and give you comfort and peace.
Wished I was back in Petaling Jaya with so many events that had happened the past two months. Wei Shaun wrote to me a post Wedding email recently about his regret of not having me solemnizing his wedding since he grew up in PJ church. My regrets too. So many vivid memories of yesteryears. Being here at the Harding Graduate School gives me more time to reflect, reminisce, and sometimes do things that I do not have time/motivation to do like more studies, reading and reflections. Hopefully this will help to shape me to be better as a person and preacher.
Yesterday I attended White Station Church of Christ (trying to attend a different COC service every Sunday in Memphis) and met the Thweatts again with their two daughters. They brought me out for lunch after church. In the afternoon I drove to Don/Ann Green’s congregation where I preached a sermon on “Changing the World is Changing People.” After that went to their house and chatted about old 1970/80s times in Malaysia when they were missionaries there.
The weather is getting cooler as Fall season sets in. The leaves on the trees are changing colors in Memphis and will gradually fall off. Still four cities/states to visit before I fly back - New York, Iowa, Nashville and Los Angeles. God has indeed been very good and kind to me in this study Sabbatical. Met many folks whom I know over the years. Good memories and reminiscences. Miss the PJ congregation and the folks back home in Malaysia. Praying for Brenda and family during this sad time of bereavement. God Bless!!
