Thank you brother Wong Wee Loke for the precise lesson on “What Can Destroy Us?” last Sunday. This morning brother Steven Tham will preach on the topic “Foolish Jews” with brother Jayson Leong translating, in our Combined Worship. Please stay back service this afternoon for our Agape Feast Luncheon. Continue to bring your loved ones/ friends to worship with us every Sunday.
SUNDAY ADULT BIBLE CLASS:
Brother Wong Wee Loke will continue to teach this class with a lesson “On Family” from the “Strengthening Your Grip” series. Food for Thought: “Like the prairie bison and the sperm whale and the crane, the family is fast becoming an endangered species. For sure, it is a different scene from the quiet, heart-warming scenes of yesteryear when mom was always home, dad was the sole breadwinner, the children lived predictable lives of ease and relaxation, and the lifestyle was laid back and simple. If you want a family that is different, distinctly set apart for God’s glory – a family that enjoys life and reaps the rewards of His best gifts, then start right. And if you failed to start right back then, start today. … it is never too late to start doing what is right. Put your Lord back in top priority. As a husband-wife team, acknowledge the fact that you have sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind. It will be a slow and tedious process putting first things first, but you can do it! And don’t forget the closing statements of Psalm 127:2: “He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.” God will work overtime helping you and giving to you the things that will make your renewed commitment stick.” Please bring your children punctually for the Sunday Children/Youth Class to be taught the Bible every Sunday.
Please pray for brethren who are away this weekend: Ong Chong Fatt (USA): Goh Cheng Phor & Grace (S. Korea); Francis Tan & family (Province Wellesley). Also pray for Eunice Tan - expecting her first child; Bernedette Savitha (Tony George’s niece) – ovarian cancer; sister Nalini – heart problems; Chan Lay Har (Bedok Singapore) – recuperating from major stroke; Wong See Keok, Tan Swee Yoke, Choy Foong’s mother, father, Tan Yoke Ying and sister Thoo – health concerns. Please inform the church staff if you are travelling or have prayer concerns, that we may know your whereabouts and include you in our weekly prayer list.
OUR HONOURED GUESTS:
We extend our warmest welcome to Eric Comiso and our regular visitors who worshipped with us last Sunday.
GREETINGS FROM MEMPHIS!
November 30th, 2017: Dearest Brethren, Just finished my last class at the Harding School of Theology this morning and the semester is almost coming to an end. The students are busy at this time of the year finishing their assignments and taking their final exams next week. It has been just wonderful being here on my Sabbatical the last four months like “heaven on earth” with so many dedicated faculty, staff and students. Everyone that I met has been so kind and helpful. I am now waiting for Miles Cotham to pi\ me up from the HST Campus in Memphis for Nashville where I will spend the next six days visiting the various folks there. Today I met the father of one of the students whom I knew back in 1989 when I was at Mission 1000 and it was wonderful to reconnect back with him and his wife. Yesterday, I treated 2 students lunch at a famous Mosa Asian Bistro Restaurant (owner is a Taiwanese). Great fellowship as both of them will be missionaries to Uganda and Botswana. One of the students invited me for a sumptuous meal at his apartment last night after which I went to Midweek service with him and his wife at Germantown COC. We attended an excellent class taught by Dr. Philip Slate on the misconceptions of the COC perceived by others. Simply great class. Wished I can attend more. I am all packed up for home 🏡 as when I returned from Nashville (San Tin will drive me back to Memphis) - it will be the flight to Bakersfield, LA next Thursday early morning for a few days thereafter which I fly back to Malaysia via Hong Kong by American Airline and Cathay Pacific. God has certainly been kind to me that I have visited so many different places and met so many brethren and friends during the four months here. Took lots of photographs of the different trips with the different good brethren. Looking forward to being back Home Sweet Home. I am so thankful for the Hogan-Cate Grant which enables me to be here at HST in the United States the past four months. Really been an enriching beneficial, revitalizing experience. See you folks soon after Nashville and Bakersfield. God Bless you Brethren! OCF
