|FEBRUARY 4TH, 2017 PJ CHURCH OF CHRIST BULLETIN
Brother Chong Fatt will bring us a message this morning on “Worshipping God” (Isaiah 6:1-8) from the pulpit at our Combined Worship with brother Steven Tham as translator this morning. Please stay back for the Agape Feast Luncheon after our church service. Please continue to bring your colleagues, loved ones and friends to worship with us each Sunday.
SUNDAY ADULT BIBLE CLASS:
Our minister will continue the exciting series on “A Study of the Nature and Work of the Holy Spirit” (5) in the Adults Bible Class this morning. Food For Thought: “Circumcision was the seal of the Old Covenant. It, like any seal, authenticated the covenant as genuine. Those who received this seal were in a covenant relationship with God. Circumcision was a physical sign to show that one belonged to God and that God would fulfil the conditions of the covenant. Paul used the same covenant terms with reference to the Holy Spirit’s being the sign or seal of the New Covenant: “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation – having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13). “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30). The Holy Spirit is the seal of the New Covenant, just as circumcision was the seal of the Old Covenant. Like circumcision, the Holy Spirit is the sign that we are in a covenant relationship with God. The Holy Spirit, on man’s side, is a sign that we belong to God, and on God’s side that He will fulfil all of the conditions promised in the New Covenant.”
