|FEBRUARY 25TH, 2018 PJ CHURCH OF CHRIST BULLETIN
Brother Chong Fatt will bring us a message this morning on “The Man Who Walked With God” (John 1:43-51) from the pulpit. Please continue to bring your colleagues, loved ones and friends to worship with us.
SUNDAY ADULT BIBLE CLASS:
Our minister will continue the series on “A Study of the Nature and Work of the Holy Spirit” (9) in the Adults Bible Class this morning. Food For Thought: “The Indwelling Spirit abides in us to empower us to make right choices. If we have knowledge of His Word, we know what the right choices are. Much of the time, right choices are easy for us to make. Our minds and hearts are already set on doing what God asks us to do or refraining from doing. However, a problem arises when Satan tempts us in areas where we are more concerned about what we want than what God desires. Be assured that Satan knows where we are most vulnerable. It is in these areas that we need divine help in making the right choice and carrying it out. The problem is more difficult when we are addicted to a particular sin or sins: using drugs; practicing immorality (the works of the flesh – Galatians 5:19-21), misuse of the tongue (gossip, slander, profanity, lying), failing to forgive when we have been hurt, impatience (easily angered), showing indifference to the needs of others. In many instances, other temptations devised by Satan to lead us into sin are less direct and more subtle. For example, when considering the fruit of the Spirit, those characteristics cannot be developed without our being tested or challenged. One cannot grow in patience, love, joy, self-control, etc., without being tempted to do the opposite. Resisting the temptation to sin and obeying instead God’s direction lead to growth and maturity in that spiritual characteristic. Satan is also a master in persuading us to simply procrastinate in doing a righteous act; when we postpone taking an action today, we may never respond to that same opportunity, and excuses come easy. “I’m just too busy. I have too much on my plate right now. Others can/will take care of the task.” In the situations described above, the help of the Holy Spirit is imperative.” Come join us in our weekly exciting Bible studies!
OUR HONOURED GUESTS:
We welcome our honoured guests: Kuan Soo Lai (Singapore); Chaffruul Ng (Johore Bahru) Rachael Tan & children (Bukit Mertajam) and our regular visitors who worshipped with us last Sunday. It was so good to see Eunice Tan Chong Wei back in church services after her confinement with her new born baby Loh Kai Xynn for the very first time. Welcome Back!
FLORAL DISPLAY LIST:
There are still about half a dozen empty slots for the weekly Floral Display List for this year. Please help bring weekly flowers for the Lord’s Table. Thanking you in advance.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
Billy Graham [1918-2018] said, “Some day you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
